Repost basics
How to Repost on TikTok (and How to Undo It)
Quick answer
To repost on TikTok, open the video, tap the Share arrow on the right side of the screen, and tap Repost. You can also press and hold the video and choose Repost. TikTok reposts it immediately, with no confirmation step. It then appears in your profile’s Reposts tab and in friends’ and followers’ For You feeds, labeled with your name and profile photo.
How to repost a TikTok from the Share menu
- Open the TikTok video you want to repost.
- Tap the Share arrow on the right side of the video.
- Tap Repost in the share menu.
That’s it: there is nothing to download or upload. TikTok reposts the video as soon as you tap, without asking you to confirm. The original stays on the creator’s profile, and your repost points back to it.
How to repost by pressing and holding the video
- Press and hold anywhere on the video while it plays.
- Tap Repost in the menu that appears.
This is the fastest route when you are scrolling the For You feed. It is also easy to trigger by accident, which is how many unwanted reposts happen.
How to repost a video your friend reposted
When friends have reposted a video, TikTok shows their profile photos at the bottom of it. Tap a friend’s profile photo, then tap Repost to add your own repost.
What happens after you repost a video
TikTok describes reposting as a way to share videos with your friends and community on their For You feeds. After you repost:
- The video can appear in your friends’ and followers’ For You feeds, labeled as a repost with your profile photo and nickname.
- It is added to the Reposts tab on your profile.
- On a public account, anyone can see your reposts, any repost text, and replies to them. Your comment privacy settings don’t apply to repost replies.
- On a private account, only your followers can see your reposts.
Reposting doesn’t guarantee that every follower sees the video; it is a recommendation to TikTok’s feed, not a message. To send a video to one person, use Share and pick their name instead.
Repost vs. share, duet, and stitch
- Repost recommends someone else’s video to your followers without creating a new post.
- Share sends a link to a specific person, chat, or another app.
- Duet and Stitch create a brand-new video of your own that uses the original clip.
- Like and Favorite save your reaction or the video for yourself and don’t push it to your followers’ feeds.

Don’t see the Repost button?
If you see Delete repost or Remove repost instead, you have already reposted that video. If Repost is missing on every video, update TikTok from the App Store and restart the app. Repost also isn’t available on every video or account. Our Repost button troubleshooting guide walks through each cause.
How to undo a repost
Changed your mind? Open the video, tap Share, then Delete repost (some versions say Remove repost). Removing a repost also deletes any replies to it. The step-by-step guide to removing a repost on TikTok covers every route.
If your Reposts tab has grown into hundreds of videos, removing them one by one gets tedious. Here’s how to delete all your reposts at once.
