How to Remove a Repost on TikTok (Undo or Unrepost a Video)
Quick answer
To remove a repost on TikTok, open the reposted video, tap Share, and tap Delete repost (some versions say Remove repost). You can also press and hold the video and tap Remove repost. The repost disappears from your profile and your friends’ feeds, along with any replies to it. The creator’s original video isn’t affected.
3 ways to undo a repost on TikTok
1. From the Share menu
- Open the video you reposted.
- Tap the Share arrow on the right side of the screen.
- Tap Delete repost (or Remove repost, depending on your app version).
2. By pressing and holding the video
- Press and hold anywhere on the video.
- Tap Remove repost.
3. From your profile photo on the video
- On a video you reposted, tap your profile photo at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Remove, and confirm if TikTok asks.
All three do the same thing. Use whichever is quickest from where you are. The press-and-hold route is handy right after an accidental repost, because the video is still on your screen.
How to find a repost you already scrolled past
- Tap Profile in the TikTok app.
- Open the Reposts tab above your video grid.
- Tap the video, then remove the repost using any of the methods above.
If you use more than one TikTok account, check the username at the top of your profile first. A repost made on one account won’t show up on another. Can’t find the tab at all? See how to see your reposts on TikTok.
What happens when you remove a repost
- It leaves your profile. The video drops out of your Reposts tab, though it can take a moment and a refresh to update.
- It stops being recommended under your name. TikTok no longer shows it to friends and followers as something you reposted.
- Replies are deleted. TikTok’s Help Center says that removing a repost also deletes all replies to it.
- The original video stays put. The creator’s post, views, likes, and comments are unaffected.
TikTok’s Help Center doesn’t mention any notification for removing a repost. Keep in mind that removal can’t un-show a repost someone already saw in their feed.
Remove repost button missing? Check these first
- The menu says Repost instead. You haven’t reposted this video, at least not from this account. Don’t tap it, or you will repost it.
- You’re on a different account. Switch to the account that made the repost.
- It’s a look-alike video. Re-uploads and copies can look identical. Open the video from your Reposts tab so you know it’s the one you shared.
- The app is out of date or stuck. Update TikTok from the App Store, close and reopen it, and check your connection.
If the button is still missing after that, use Settings and privacy → Report a problem in TikTok and include a screenshot. Removed it but it’s still showing, or it came back? See why TikTok reposts don’t delete.
How to unrepost many TikTok videos at once
One accidental repost takes seconds to undo. Fifty or five hundred is a different job. TikTok has no “remove all” option, so you’d have to repeat the steps above for every video.
Our guide on how to delete all reposts on TikTok at once compares the manual route with bulk removal on iPhone, including how long each takes.
Frequently asked questions
How do you unrepost on TikTok?
Open the video you reposted, tap Share, and tap Delete repost (some versions say Remove repost). You can also press and hold the video and tap Remove repost.
I accidentally reposted a TikTok. What should I do?
While the video is still on screen, press and hold it and tap Remove repost. The sooner you remove it, the fewer people will have seen it in their feeds.
Why won’t TikTok let me remove a repost?
Check that you’re on the account that made the repost and that the menu shows Delete repost or Remove repost rather than Repost. If it does and removal still fails, update TikTok, restart it, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and wait a few minutes if you’ve removed many reposts in a row.
Does TikTok notify someone when you remove a repost?
TikTok’s Help Center doesn’t mention any notification for removing a repost. Anyone who already saw your repost in their feed may still remember it, though.
Can you undo a repost on TikTok after a long time?
Yes. There’s no time limit. Find the video in your profile’s Reposts tab and remove it the same way you would a new repost.
Does removing a repost delete the original video?
No. It only removes your repost and the replies to it. The creator’s video stays on their profile.
How do I remove all my reposts on TikTok at once?
TikTok doesn’t offer a bulk option. On iPhone, a repost remover such as RepostWipe can scan your profile and remove the reposts you select in paced batches.
