Troubleshooting
TikTok Reposts Not Deleting or Coming Back? How to Fix It
Quick answer
If a TikTok repost won’t delete or comes back, the removal usually either hasn’t synced yet or didn’t go through. Pull down to refresh your Reposts tab and give it a minute or two. Then open the video: if its menu still offers Remove repost, remove it again; if it offers Repost, it’s already gone and your list is just out of date.
First, check whether the repost is really still there
Your Reposts tab can lag behind what has actually happened. The video itself is the most reliable place to check:
- Tap the video in your Reposts tab to open it.
- Tap Share, or press and hold the video.
- If you see Remove repost or Delete repost, it’s still reposted. If you see Repost, it isn’t. Don’t tap it.
That one check tells you which of the fixes below you need.
7 reasons reposts won’t delete, and how to fix each
1. TikTok hasn’t caught up yet
Removals can take a minute or two to show up. Pull down to refresh the Reposts tab, or close and reopen TikTok, before removing the same video again.
2. The app is showing a cached list
An old cached copy of your profile can make removed reposts reappear. Clear TikTok’s cache in Profile → menu → Settings and privacy → Free up space, tap Clear next to Cache, and reopen the app.
3. You removed too many too quickly
Users commonly report TikTok blocking repeated actions for a while, sometimes with a message about going too fast. Stop for a while, then continue at a slower pace. Tapping faster makes it worse.
4. Your connection dropped mid-removal
If you were on weak Wi-Fi or mobile data, the removal may never have reached TikTok. TikTok’s own advice for sharing problems is to switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Turning off a VPN can help too. Then try again.
5. You’re checking a different account
Reposts belong to the account that made them. If you removed reposts on one account and you’re looking at another, nothing will have changed. Check the username at the top of your profile.
6. It’s a different copy of the video
Re-uploads of popular videos can look identical. If a “removed” repost seems to come back, open it and check the creator and caption; it may be a separate video you reposted too.
7. Two tools or devices are working at once
Running a cleanup app, a browser extension, and manual removals at the same time can produce errors and confusing results. Stick to one method per account until the run is finished.
Why do removed reposts keep coming back?
When a repost reappears after you removed it, the usual causes are a stale cached list (fix 2), a removal that never completed because of a dropped connection or rate limit (fixes 3 and 4), or a new accidental repost. Press-and-hold reposts are easy to trigger while scrolling, and TikTok reposts immediately without asking you to confirm.
If it keeps happening with the same video, update TikTok from the App Store, log out and back in, and try removing it once more from the video itself.
If you’re using RepostWipe
- Reposts still showing after removal? Scroll through your Reposts tab and pull to refresh. TikTok can take a minute or two to sync.
- Can’t view or remove reposts? Force-close and reopen the app, log out and back in, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and disconnect any VPN.
- Just removed a big batch? Wait a while before continuing; rapid actions are commonly reported to trigger temporary blocks.
- Want to confirm the result? Compare the cleanup history with your Reposts tab in TikTok.

Frequently asked questions
Why are my TikTok reposts not deleting?
Usually because TikTok hasn’t synced yet, the app is showing a cached list, or the removal didn’t go through because of a weak connection or rate limit. Open the video: if it still offers Remove repost, try again; if it offers Repost, it’s already removed.
Why do my reposts keep coming back on TikTok?
A cached list, a removal that never completed, or a new accidental press-and-hold repost are the usual causes. Clear TikTok’s cache, update the app, and remove the repost again from the video itself.
How long does it take for a removed repost to disappear?
Usually a minute or two. Pull down to refresh the Reposts tab, or close and reopen TikTok, before trying again.
Why does TikTok say I’m doing that too fast?
Users commonly see this after many actions in a short time. TikTok doesn’t publish its limits, so wait a while before removing more reposts, then continue at a slower pace.
